Welcome to Syracuse University's Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)

Our mission is to challenge and support the holistic development of competent, well-rounded scholars for post-baccalaureate education, global citizenship, and lifelong achievement.

Our vision is to be a leading Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program in the State of New York and the principal source of student enrichment in science, technology, engineering, and pre-licensure fields.

The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program is jointly sponsored by Syracuse University and the New York State Education Department.

It is a co-curricular enrichment program designed to foster a student's academic success in preparing for professional licensure or careers in the scientific, technical, or health-related fields.

CSTEP aims to reinvent scholarship for participating students as they pursue their academic goals; undergraduate and graduate students may join CSTEP at any time during their college career.

CSTEP Application

Who Is Eligible for CSTEP?

To be eligible for CSTEP, an applicant must: 

  • be a permanent resident of New York State
  • have the following GPA requirements:

Undergraduates: 3.2 cum

Graduates: 3.0 cum

  • be economically disadvantaged or a member of a historically. underrepresented group.
  • be currently enrolled in or have an interest in the health related, scientific, technical fields and pre-licensure programs, as well as math/science education.
  • meet with counselor a minimum of three times each semester.
  • attend all general meetings and at least two workshops, events, or activities each semester.
  • participate in program advocacy activities.
  • maintain at least a 2.2 GPA once in the program.

CSTEP scholar selections occur on a rolling-admission basis and responds to individual applications on a case-by-case basis.
